Coronavirus: Further changes

The following additional changes apply from today:

Bluestar have some early morning changes on routes 9 and 17, following feedback from key workers, making it easier to get to the General Hospital for a 0730 shift.

More are moving to an enhanced Sunday service on routes M1, M2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14, 16 and 17. A weekday school holiday service remains on routes 7A, 7B, 7C, 10, 11, 15, 20, 24, 32, 38, 40, 50, 60, RouteONE, Ringo 1, Ringo 2, X1, X2, X3, X6, X8, X8A, 112, 119, 125 (Wednesday and Friday only), 191 and 193. Routes 3, N1 and N2 are temporarily suspended.

Xelabus is suspending the X12 and Bitterne Hoppa until further notice.

First Wessex is running a weekday service on the X54. They had initially said it was suspended, which is now not the case.

Following last night's announcement, more changes are inevitable, so watch this space and check the operators' websites before travelling.

  1. Now we are effectively under lockdown, it's inevitable that most bus services will be cut even further. I'm guessing the bare minimum would be something like an Xmas day service although that would cut off a lot of areas where key workers live. I think a service pattern as follows would be sufficient for Southampton:

Half hourly service between Thornhill and General Hospital via City Centre and Millbrook.
Half hourly service between Lordshill and Weston via General Hospital and City Centre .
Half hourly service between Townhill Park and City Centre via Portswood.
Hourly service between City Centre and General Hospital via Portswood and University.
Hourly service between Southampton and Calmore.
Hourly service between Southampton and Langley via Totton, Marchwood and Hythe.
Hourly service between Southampton and Winchester via Eastleigh and Chandler’s Ford (something similar to Christmas day 1X service).
Hourly service between Southampton and Botley via West End and Hedge End.
Hourly service between Southampton and Fareham via Bursledon and Titchfield.

Competiton rules could be relaxed so Bluestar and First can work together to operate these routes to help keep the country running in these unprecedented times.

  3. Should think so.It's been ridiculous running a Saturday service. They seem so slow to react to anything although stagecoach are not much better

    2. Never seen such crazy timetables with just as many buses Sundays before 0900 as Mondays to Saturdays. The 9 gets slaughtered and have We now abandoned Harefield?

    3. Why they abandoned Harefield?
Okay service 3 and the X10 still run, but that is not fair at all.
      Bluestar to the rescue?

    4. Xelabus are further reducing their operations from next Sunday. No Sunday operations at all.I suspect if this goes on even the Saturday service will get another hit.In observation hardly seen a sole of any X10's being run.Severe times for Xelabus. As for First lots of services in Gosport and Fareham have also got the chop for the time being.
