Coronavirus: Further changes today, tomorrow and Sunday

In a very fast changing situation, the following changes have taken effect today:

More X3 and X6 have moved to temporary timetables offering generally an enhanced Sunday service.

Southern Vectis have moved to temporary timetables on routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9 and 37. Other routes (except 51/52) are still running normally.

Xelabus are moving to a Saturday service across the board, with the X6/X7 running between Eastleigh and Velmore only. Route X15 is now suspended. All services are suspended on Sundays.

From tomorrow,

Unilink in Southampton are introducing temporary timetables, which haven't yet been published on their website. Check with them before travelling.

From Sunday..

First are moving to generally a Sunday service every day across all of their bus operations in Southampton, Portsmouth and Weymouth.

More as we get it.

  1. Looks like Red Buses adjust timetables to be everywhere 3 mins before Bluestar

    1. Well I would imagine Bluestar will be making more changes and more than likely take this into account. You would not expect First to take a sensible approach under current circumstances. So far in what I have seen of First their response has been dreadful.I have never seen so many empty buses running round. However even Bluestar has the same problem even with reduced timetables and poor Xelabus is really suffering.

    2. Why would you not expect First to take a sensible approach ? What a bizarre statement at this moment in time.

  3. I wouldn't be too surprised if Xelabus suspends all bus routes, unfortunately that is not out of the cards.

  4. I have checked on Unilink Timetables, available on the planner
Frequency of 15 minutes on the U1
Frequency of 30 minutes on the U2
Frequency of 30 minutes Mon-Sat (60 min Sun) on the U6
    No changes to the U9.

  6. For First Dorset, as well as services 1,2 and 10 there are four round trips between Bridport and Axminster on X53. There will be an additional Traveline data build at 1400 on Friday which should be live Saturday morning with hopefully everything up to date. For those in the Bournemouth Poole Christchurch area the real time signs have been loaded with the correct schedules for tomorrow (Thursday) but they may not necessarily display predictions if the operator feeds are not delivering them. 1. Let's hope that changes and also would include Peartree Avenue

    2. For the operators there are a few approaches to keep serving Harefield & Peartree Ave

      Serving Harefield only
First can extend hourly their service 7
Bluestar can divert hourly their service 16 via Bitterne Road East, Somerset Avenue, Cheriton Ave and West End Road (or the inverse).
Bluestar can also make a loop with their 3 around Harefield Estate.
9 via West End Road, Somerset Avenue, Cheriton Avenue, Bitterne Road East and Bath Road.

      Serving Peartree avenue and Harefield
Making the 9 every 45 minutes and one of the variants via Peartree avenue, West End Road, Somerset Avenue, Cheriton Avenue, Bitterne Road East and Bath Road, then to normal route
Bluestar diverting hourly their 16 via Woolston, Peartree Avenue, Bitterne Road East, Somerset Avenue, Cheriton Ave and West End Road
Bluestar could also run the 3 via Woolston, Peartree Avenue, Bitterne and then a loop around Harefield.

    3. First could also divert their 8 via Peartree Avenue and Harefield, then resume normal route from Townhill Way onwards

  8. The bluestar 3 takes long enough already to get from Hedge End to the city centre without another diversion!

  9. QuayConnect is to be reduced to a Hourly Service.

  10. Bluestar announced just now further reductions on services from next Mon.
Eg after the early Keyworker services to get to work, the 16 will only run once per hour.

    1. Unfortunately yes, all Xelabus services will be suspended...
Harefield and now Lordswood have no buses through the estate, although whoever needs to get the bus in Harefield can walk to Bitterne Road East and get Bluestar 3
And for those living in Lordswood they can get First 3.
As far as I am aware, all council services are canceled too.
Places without a bus service from Monday:
      - Durley (between Horton Heath and Bishops Waltham)
      - Curdridge (between Horton Heath and Bishops Waltham)
      - Harefield (Southampton)
      - Lordswood Estate (Southampton)
      - Cadnam
      - Netley Marsh
      - Woodlands
      (Keep on adding)

    3. it would be nicer to say that Harefield keeps their service and not demanding things to be deleted. Unfortunately Reece sometimes you really need to think before typing.

  12. With Xelabus almost at collapsing point prior to this will they return to the road again??

  13. All their staff will be paid 80% of their wages by the government so I wouldnt write them off.

    1. Will that pay the heavy finance bill or account for the vehicles repossessed?
That scania that went to yellow buses for mot still there? Or are they holding it for the finance company?

    2. As you have no idea of how Xelabus operate their business why post things about them that are nothing to do with you? Like many other small firms it's difficult times for them so why make it worse in posting about things you know nothing about

    3. if they were planning on continuing why are the management selling off spare parts of facebook?

    4. No vehicles have been repossessed

    5. Why should they not sell off what they don't want on facebook. For goodness sake stop slating them on everything you may see on a facebook page which you seem to want to believe something sinister into
