Changes on Unilink, First Wessex and First Pompey 15

A couple of changes have happened this weekend...

In Southampton, we have timetable changes on all Unilink routes, including extra morning and late night services on the U1, more morning journeys on the U6 and the U2X being replaced by more journeys on the run of the mill U2. New timetable also on the U9.  Details here.

First in Weymouth have new timetables from today on the following routes:

1, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 8, 10, X51, X53, X54

Summer services X55, 500 and 501 are withdrawn for the winter. See their new timetable book here.

And in Portsmouth, First 15 has a new timetable as it extends on weekdays to connect with the Hayling Ferry.

  1. The Unilink U9 should run all day and would provide a link from Bitterne Park to the general which there used to be with the No.4 bus back in the day.

    1. TThe U9 is run by the Universiity under contract by Bluestar so I sugguest you contact the University if you wish it run in any other form I'm absolutely fed up,with reading posts on this site telling operators to do this and that by people who would not use the service anyway The university provide by contract what they wish to operate and don't need outsiders telling them to the contarary If you wish in what you are stating to operate start a service up yourself or if not keep your nose out of it.

    2. Anonymous at 23:22. Not sure whether you represent the University or Bluestar, but this blog is not an official channel and I'm sure Sotonbus welcomes discussion on ideas for changes to routes. If you are fed up of reading these posts then I would respectfully ask you not to bother reading the blog. I do not consider it good etiquette to tell comment posters to "keep their noses out of it", however impractical the suggestion may be.

    3. I am totally with robbob on this. We are all entitled to an opinion, and to be passionate about the subject matter, but it is completely unacceptable to get personal with other contributors.

    4. Ignore the troll at 23:22.Bus companies welcome feedback and suggestions from passengers and do act on them from time to time.

    5. Ignore the troll at 2322-You are as bad as the person who posted the comment in your reply-They are entitled to their oppinion as you are and that's why the expressed it as they did, wether anyone agrees with it or not

    8. Anon at 27 Sept 2018 1942 and anon at 0015 28 Sept should feel very proud of yourselves in correcting the the persons post Just shows how childish you both are in how you deal with others posting because you don't like their comments

    9. I really don't think that either had any problem with their comments, rather their spelling? One of the replies even attempted a bit of humour, so no bad feeling there either.

  2. Will never happen.

  3. The U9 did run all day, years ago. Unsurprisingly it was very lightly used off-peak

    1. What I would do with the U9 if I was GSC/the University (and if reading this will fill you with rage I politely request you go and do something less annoying instead).

After Burgess Road I would turn right at Hill Lane via Lordswood and Coxford Roads to the General, then via existing route to Hill Lane, then turn right and continue to end of Hill Lane, terminating after Central Station at Mayflower Halls before looping back.
Start by running it as a peak time service only but in both directions, and if popular enough run during the day also. I would have thought restoring the traditional direct link from town to the General via Hill Lane could help the route become commercially successful.

    2. That would have been when the 12 ran between Townhill Park and Lordshill though, I’m guessing? A fast not-via-city service might be a bit more popular now?

  4. Revised timetable for the BS 18 & 8 as of 11/11/18, & revised times & route for the BS 4 from same date.

  5. Oh dear, where is the announcement that some people on this site keep posting about Bluestar extending to Weston? Also of interest that on Hayling Island Portsmouth City Coaches will also be providing a peak hour service to connect with the Hayling Ferry

    1. It will come, but they need to put other priorities through first, and then just put the cherry on the top!

    1. Be interesting to see what the route change is on BS4.

    2. Probably just the 504 school route, so I would not get too excited!

  7. Hayling Island service by Portsmouth City Coaches (former Emsworth & district) is run as service 149. A Hayling Isd service number from aeons ago!

  8. Southern Vectis changes are minor peak time tweaks and two routes having their Sunday service saved for the winter months.

  9. Rumours of First will no longer run M1 service to Marwell Zoo from 2019. We will see, await for news from March next year. I know the company who will run but I am not authosired to reveal it yet.

  10. Another sign of First about to pull the plug on Southampton? If you were to know who is going to run it Claudio, you would also know that First were not, making it more than a rumour! As I know you, I know that you are not in any position of knowledge, so please stop listening to bus driver talk, which is what this currently is!

  11. Maybe first lost contract dident stagecoach do a marwell route a few years ago? Dident see stagecoach pull out of hampshire because of it being withdrawn so cant see first pulling out of southampton(like they have been alledged to do so since the dinosaurs ruled the land) this rubbish on first until it is confirmed by first should be taken with a pinch of salt rather then every topic be twisted into a negitive slur against first if i wanted to intoxicate myself with bickering i would watch jeremy kyle

    1. Stagecoach operated route M3 from Winchester railway station & Broadway then Science Centre (Intech in old money) and via the motorway to Marwell Zoo on Wednesday and Saturdays between mid July and late September 2015.

Only ran for the one Summer season with four buses each way.

  12. VOSA accepted on 25/09 First's cancelled application for the M1 effective as of 25/11/18...I did find this peculiar seeing as it's already done it's run for this summer...

It will all be revaled in February 2019 when the M1 is registered on VOSA be careful what your told Cladio even the Bluestar drivers can lie.

  14. A few changes on Bluestar, according to VOSA:
    Service 4 with changes to route and timetable;
    Services 8, 9, 11, 12, 16 and 18 with changes to timetable;
Service 17 is to replicate First 17 (later known as First 1): ADANAC PARK - WESTON via General Hospital, Shirley and Woolston.

With service 17 we will have three cross city with Bluestar, plus a fourth one with First 3.
Do you think the city will benefit from it?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I think the 17 will suffer massive reliability issues, like all the cross city routes do , but maybe the route change on route 4 is going to compensate in some way? Whichever way it turns out, it's yet another nail in Firsts coffin, and a slap in the face for all those posters who predicted that this would not happen. Bit by bit, Blue Star are taking over this City, whether or not some like it.

    2. First in Millbrook still seem to get passengers

    3. Wherever two operators run a similar route those waiting at a stop will unless they have a prepaid ticket by the operator concerned board the first bus that comes along. It matters not whether one operator is cheaper than the other with singles or returns they still board the bus. In fact I do the same and get the first bus that arrives and could not care a toss who the operator is.

I am sure the same will still happen in Weston

    5. Anon 7th 04:07. I don’t totally agree. Oap/disabled pass holders yes, they may get on whatever comes first, and yes those with day/week/month rider tickets will wait for the particular operator. But I think you’ll find a vast majority of whoever’s left have a preference between the two and would think twice before using the “other”.

      Delete
  15. Obviously you have a preference, but few in My daily travels don't-As long as the bus gets you from A to B what does it matter who the operator is along common sections of route
