Roadworks and events

Our page of changes lists all upcoming changes to timetables, some of them more minor than others. A few minor ones are coming up...

From 2nd May, More M1, M2 and 15 are showing new timetables on Traveline, but not on More's own website. The reason? It's a temporary route change due to roadworks. Traveline automatically publishes new timetables, while the operator doesn't see the point and just notifies of the temporary change.

Unibus U4 is also affected.

Over in Southampton, what had been listed with the authorities as a change to First 8 is actually notification of extra evening journeys over the summer on nights when there are events at the Ageas Bowl. These journeys are all numbered 8A, to differentiate them from the usual 8 journeys. The first day of operation is this Wednesday 3rd May when Hampshire play Middlesex in the cricket one-day cup. On this day, the additional service will depart from Ageas Bowl at 2145 towards Southampton City Centre.

More roadworks-induced changes happen on First D1/D2 from Friday 5th May in Hambledon.

Then on 14th May or thereabouts (and subject to change) it is expected that the Hard Interchange in Portsmouth will re-open, which has triggered new Traveline timetables for those routes that serve it. There are no actual changes to the timetables however.

  1. The M1/M2 and 15 timetables haven't changed but will later in the month - there are new versions on Traveline as these are stop-level versions, so are updated to help with journey planning.

The U4 is a different diversion.

  2. The diversions to Morebus 15 m1 m2 are lasting around seven weeks depending on progress and anything of three weeks or more should be put on Traveline, otherwise we put on an Incident Capture Message similar to the operators own messages. The art is in anticipating the finishing date relative to the Traveline update cycles. These diversions however do seriously impact on some important real time signs at Poole Hospital and College where some stops will have no service during the diversions, so changing the system data and adding sign messages was imperative.

  3. Whoever thought it was a good idea to run single deck buses on BS18 on Bank Holiday seriously got it wrong!

    1. It`s not the same person who thought of just running dinky little buses between West Cowes and Newport,at this time of year is it?

    3. Big buses cant get into the ferry terminal !

    4. Tiny buses between Newport and Cowes are certainly not ideal, but how else do you propose serving the Red Jet terminal?

    5. They used to send alternate buses to the terminal ,while the others terminated outside M&s in Carvel Lane ,thus allowing for larger vehicles on some journeys.Hardly rocket science is it?

    6. No need for all buses,on that particular route,to serve the terminal, with red jets only once ,or twice an hour!

    7. True but lots of the passengers come from the red jet so you would find that the small buses connecting with the red jet would still be just as packed and the large buses not connecting would be much quieter and not need the large vehicle anyway, Which is pretty much what seemed to happen when they used to run the mixture of bus sizes

    8. Could always start ALL buses from Carvel Lane,it`s hardly a long walk away and would save bus drivers having to try and get round and under the entrance to the terminal ,which doesn't seem easy to do.

  4. Changes coming to bluestar 1,2,5,7,11/12&18 on June 4th. Mostly just adjusting timings, the odd extra morning and evening journey too. But biggest change is the Bluestar2 going half hourly on Sundays.
