Further changes have occurred since last week, with many taking effect today. Generally, there are further reductions, especially on Sundays. A couple of routes that had been suspended have been reinstated with an emergency timetable, mainly in Weymouth and Waterlooville. Select your operator below for the full details...
- Bluestar
- First Bath
- First Southampton/City Red
- First Portsmouth
- First Weymouth
- More
- Salisbury Reds
- Southern Vectis (including community routes)
- Unilink
Further changes are highly likely, so don't forget the three golden rules of bus travel during the lockdown:
- Please only travel if absolutely necessary, otherwise stay at home
- Check the bus operator's website to make sure what level of service they are running
- Please don't use cash. If you can, pay by contactless, smart card or mobile ticketing app
Was supposed to be the start of Yellow Buses' F1 today. Did anyone get a copy of the exact route or timetable out of interest?
ReplyDeleteAre Bluestar running to the new Mon-Sat timetable on Good Friday as I`m a key worker and need to get to work?

DeleteMade an error on my original reply.
DeleteLooking at the timetables on the Bluestar website, there will be a Sunday service on Good Friday.
Ok thanks -wasn`t too sure as originally Bluestar were going to operate to Saturday times on Good Friday.
DeleteIndeed they were.but not much point to that now

ReplyDeleteYellow buses to introduce some uplifts to services from Tuesday 14/03/20
ReplyDelete14th April I presume you mean
DeleteAll gone to Traveline today, visible Thursday.
DeleteKen Traveline
And visible on Yellow Buses's website tomorrow, according to their announcements available here: yellowbuses.co.uk/coronavirus
DeleteLucketts have purchased the Sea View business from administrators but no vehicles or depot included in the sale
ReplyDeleteSo National Express have purchased a Poole Coach company's name and Goodwill, but nothing else?
ReplyDelete[Nat Ex of course, being the new owners of Lucketts]
A similar situation to when lucketts acquired the order books and goodwill from Heritage in Sussex a few months ago. The Sea View fleet are now at Walters bus & coach sales Oxford
DeleteThe enhanced timetables from Yellow Buses are now out.
ReplyDeleteMain points: services 2 and 3 every 15 minutes, service 6 Wimborne - Northbourne is extended to Castlepoint and RBH, new service 31 linking Castlepoint and Christchurch/Somerford.
Interesting choice of number for the 31! Despite that aside from Christchurch High Street and RBH to Castlepoint it appears to mostly be a different route from the old 31, more akin to the 111 during it's brief time running to Castelpoint instead of Hurn. Probably mainly intended as a replacement for the 2h.
DeleteIt is kinda omitted but service 4 will no longer be extended to RBH, so people from Winton wanting to go to the Hospital need to change either at Castlepoint or catch Morebus 15.
DeleteNow that Yellows have announced a dedicated hospital service to cope with key worker demand, I wonder if a Southampton operator will do the same. Direct hospital service to the General via Hill Lane anyone?
DeleteIt would be good. I heard the Bluestar 19 was meant be extended to do that route because the council wouldn’t allow them to go down Shirley high street with another route. Seeing that the 19 is now withdrawn, I’m not sure what’s going to happen now.
DeleteThere are many things that may have caused this:
ReplyDelete1) Practically no one was using the section between Castlepoint & RBH.
2) As both Morebus & Yellow Buses are accepting each others tickets at the moment and the 15 operates direct between Winton & Castlpoint/RBH, save the mileage (as little as it is) and shorten the route to reduce the amount of drivers required and move them elsewhere (like the increases in the 2 and 3).
Cutting that little section of route will not free up drivers. Oh and the 4 gets a frequency increase as well.
DeleteTerminating at Castlepoint means almost zero lost mileage for any return to depot for driver change etc. Even with little or no traffic on our roads extending to RBH then travelling back empty probably adds a good 15 minutes or so.
DeleteBesides large parts of the route are covered by those routes with high frequency increases, the 2 and 3.
Good to see the Poole Town extension on the 1 is back.
This is the first instance of an operator actually introducing new services to keep up with constantly changing demand in these unprecedented times. Hats off to Yellows!
DeleteBut what I want to know is, why have they upped the frequency of route 2 back to its pre-covid level. Surely 2 buses an hour is sufficient enough for the current levels of passengers, unless I have missed something and it is being interworked with the 3 (also every 15 mins).
Also looks like the weekday Kinson extension to the 2 has been axed so Northbourne will be without a direct service to Bournemouth for most of the week.
The section between Toby Carvery and Kinson yes, they lose a direct connection, however, the section between Moordown and Toby Carvery don't, as Morebus 13 serves that area.
DeleteThe extension of the 2 is kept on Sundays.
Anyone know why Yellow Buses 31 is missing from travelling?
ReplyDelete*Travelline, I meant
DeleteWhen Yellow Buses supplied me with the TransXchange file on Tuesday morning, the 31 was deliberately excluded as it had not by then had Traffic Commissioners approval, hence it is not in the current data set. This morning (Thursday) I asked Yellow Buses again about the 31 as I was preparing the real time data file to go in the system today to deliver the Easter services and the new Yellow Buses times from Tuesday. I received the reply that I should release the real time data without it. The position will be rectified next Tuesday as appropriate.
DeleteAs with all these systems, you get to a point where you have to go with what you have. For Traveline it's 1700 on Tuesday plus at the moment 1400 on Friday, but this week being Good Friday there is no second build. For RTI I can get data in as ate as the day before but I like to try and get it in earlier so I have time to check it post import.
Ken Traveline
Ah thank you for your reply Ken
DeleteOn the latest blog post, I posted a comment yesterday but it has still not shown up. This comes more than a WHOLE day after being told "Your comment will be visible after approval". Does anyone know that post is taking so long to approve?
