New timetables on routes 25, 26, 27, 29.
Most Wheelers services in Salisbury, including the W16, are withdrawn, with replacements mainly run by Salisbury Reds. Wheelers are left with just some journeys on route 87.
Nice to note the 1645 salisbury to Southampton runs all year and improved service after 1700 Southampton to Salisbury-As for the 37 Salisbury to West Dean it looks gradually it's heading for extinction-Oh dear what's happened to Wheeler's?
ReplyDeleteIt would seem Wheeler's are giving up on bus services.
ReplyDeleteThe new timetable for the Bluestar 2 is now on Traveline
ReplyDeleteWheeler's seem to have given up (or where priced out of) operating out of Salisbury, which is remote from North Baddesley; thus difficult and more expensive. They seem to have registered new shopping services around Andover starting in October.
ReplyDeleteIf First wants to be around, it would be time to invest and purchase Wheelers W1 to Romsey, as it tends to have good patronage to Southampton Science Park in Chilworth.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine First would not be remotely interested in Wheeler's W1,or for that matter any other operator
DeleteI over heard two Bluestar drivers talking Bluestar thinking of explan the 17 to. Go to Westen and Woolston
ReplyDeleteMakes sense.
DeleteThe 17 always used to go to Weston until First ruined what was a perfectly good network. What goes round comes around.
DeleteShouldn't listen to gossip
ReplyDeleteNo chance of Bluestar going there they only take over what First get rid off and anyway would Totton Depot even have the space for more buses?
ReplyDeleteTotton don’t. But Eastleigh has. Could easily swap the 7 for the 17 between the two depots. Frees up the oversubscribed Totton depot and uses the available space at Eastleigh. But of course, this is complete rumours anyway..
DeleteBig Bluestar changes in November apparently - no idea what but excellent source. I reckon Weston too with work swapping between the 2 depots.
ReplyDeleteUnlikely that 7 and 17 would swap between depots, but very likely that the 4 route would go back to Eastleigh depot instead, in the event of the 17 being extended to Weston as rumoured.
DeleteRumors... Only rumors!
DeleteJust seen a poole e200mmc heading into soton in service think it on a 6
ReplyDeleteYes-The Bluestar 6 between Southampton and Lymington is a very perculiar operation-You normaly can see every sort of colour bus on it except what should be on it
ReplyDeleteThe Bournemouth Airshow is taking place this weekend and Morebus require as many double deckers as possible for their routes around Bournemouth & Poole.
DeleteThis means that double decks from across the More operation are being transferred in, temporarily, with Enviro200 MMCs heading in the other direction - hence why one was seen on the Bluestar 6.
The Lymington depot, which runs the B*6, are running short on Bluestar branded buses with several More & Bournemouth Unibus branded vehicles substituting on the 6 over the past few weeks. Should all begin to settle down soon.
Nonsense-It's been like it for years in its operation
DeleteNo it's not nonsense at all! Andi knows exactly what he is talking about. More bluestar branded buses heading to Lymington any day now. They always cover their busier summer schedules with spare uni buses.
DeleteUnibus vehicles are not used on the 6 following a directive from Towngate House prohibiting them from going into Southampton. This apparently followed a complaint from Southampton University authorities. Why would more B* vehicles be sent to Lymington when the allocation is the 3 vehicles currently based there. When the New Forest Tours finish soon and the open toppers regain their roofs the loan vehicles revert to their day jobs. Incidentally Anon @16.53 above is correct MORE vehicles have been employed daily on the 6 since it replaced the 56 (all those years ago)
DeleteThere will be 5 bluestar branded down there soon. Forest tour buses not returning there this year, as they reach the end of their working lives.
DeleteInteresting, all 6 tours buses are re-roofed and back working at Lymington
DeleteDoes anyone know if there are any major changes to Southern Vectis from the end of sept when the current timetable changes?
ReplyDeleteI note that soon quite a number of Cango routes round Andover transfer to Wheeler's operation
ReplyDeleteI went on the 1629 City Red 6 today from Hamble Square into City Center and ai note that while looking at a Duty Board this states on the CityRed 6 do not serve Woolston Road and Ingleside
