Solent Bus Update: Regional round up

Here's our monthly look at the bus changes coming up across the wider region, including Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Poole, Salisbury and Winchester. Click the route numbers to see the new timetables:

16th July:
First W1 Fareham-Whiteley NEW ROUTE
Saturday shoppers' service to Whiteley village

17th July:

    I believe that the Winchester bus services that have been cancelled are still out for tender, or at the least the Council (Hants) are due to review the submitted tenders.

    Hampshire County Council have a meeting scheduled for later in this month to discuss Winchester bus tenders "for a four year period" along with the 125 between Ringwood and Christchurch.

    Stagecoach would needed to have de-registered the services with the two months notice period and would be able to register the new services at short notice with the help and approval of HCC.

    I assume that the services will be saved (although the 6A could go with little impact whatsoever).

    It would be better, for the passengers, if Hants didn't leave things to the last minute but they're a local authority so they can do what the hell, right?

      It is certainly a bizarre looking service. Presumably it has some external funding from a developer or similar, which may mean it continues for a while regardless of whether it actually carries anyone.

    Also worth reporting is that Weymouth and Bridport drivers will be going on strike for a 4th week.

    Stagecoach 46.

    According to Peter Symonds college
    Stagecoach will be running two 46’s
    from North Baddesley to Winchester
    Bus station via the college in the
    mornings on college days.

    Then two 46’s from the Bus station via
    the college back to North Baddesley in
    the afternoon on college days.

    All four buses will run via North Millers Dale.

    The college also states that other 46’s will
    run during the day.
