First E1/E2 timetable blunder

First have published the timetables for their version of the E1 and E2 between Eastleigh and Winchester, which they take over from Wheelers as of 12th October.

See the weekday timetable here and the Saturday timetable here.

Smiler52 commenting on the previous post points out that most northbound journeys appear to start from Boyatt Wood rather than Eastleigh:

Well spotted! On closer inspection, the line for Eastleigh Bus Station is marked 'arr' for arrivals, so will only include those journeys coming through from Portswood. All other journeys will indeed start from Eastleigh Bus Station at the same times as the current Wheelers service does (4 mins before the time shown for The Arrow), with the exception of the last journey of the day in each direction, which is axed:

  • 1805 E2 Eastleigh to Winchester - axed
  • 1850 E1 Winchester to Eastleigh - axed

The last bus from Eastleigh to Winchester will be the E1 at 1705 and coming back the last bus will be the E2 at 1800 from Winchester, which will run through to Portswood. All times mentioned are Mon-Sats only.

Traveline has the maps for First's service, but not yet the timetables - clicking on the links for them just shows the current Wheelers service. Traveline's maps however say that First will be terminating on Broadway in Winchester rather then the bus station. First's timetables say Winchester Bus Station. Hopefully this can be clarified before First take over.

  4. No,it's more than likely a glitch in the system when it was loaded onto the site, which happens on other sites as well when loading information

  5. First Southampton`s Facebook page is so boring these days, now that people can`t post all their complaints on the pages wall!

    2. Me too!!I live along a route where First and Bluestar are at war and now i only use Bluestar due to my being "Banned".First seem intent on loosing loads of customers and going the right way to it ,it`d seem!

    3. I note a lady who has been campaining for First to restore the Sunday service round Merryoak in Southampton, has also been banned from posting on First website.Very customer friendly of First when all She is trying to do is help the bus using residents in the Merryoak/Itchen area

    4. Nobody can post on Firsts Facebook page, they changed the rules when you the Pages were split for Portsmouth and Southampton, so you may not be banned.

    5. Anon at 08.57 says "Nobody can post on Firsts Facebook page". So, why have it?

    6. Indeed, the site now is more or less useless as even service updates are now rarely shown,More than likely it was changed due to staffing issues as many times due to staff being ill or for some other reason you had to wait some time for a reply.People too posting ridiculous things which were enthusiast related didn't help matters I suspect either.Does this also mean the end of managers online sessions which were held periodicaly?

    7. All First have done is change their Facebook page to be the same as Bluestar's. Why everyone is whinging I have no idea; I haven't been able to post on Bluestar's page for years.

Given the ridiculous postings from some enthusiasts I'm surprised they left it that long.

    8. My point was NOT that i am no longer able to post on their wall, but not allowed to like,or comment on any posts placed by First on the page!

    9. I note this morning on looking at sites you can still post on Bluestar and First Portsmouth sites. It's just First Southampton it would seem where you can't.This maybe due to the recent timetable changes in Southampton which in some areas has caused a public backlash so most comments would not be to favourable at the moment

  6. Interesting to note yet another journey axed from a timetable, when at the start of this year HCC published what it would be funding and what it would no longer support for the year.It just gets worse as time goes bye

    1. If wheelers pulled out of the contract it might not be HCC's fault. They might be paying First more for less as far as we know, and the additional cost for those trips might have been prohibitive.

Ultimately if you want public services, you don't vote Conservative, which sadly too many people in this area did.

    2. I don't think whichever party you voted for would make a scrap of difference to bus services in the area.I've not noticed the Labour SCC Council doing an over amount to recent bus services changes in Southampton. The only local Council who does try it's best is Eastleigh that I note

  7. Someone in the publicity department at SCC seriously needs to get their act right in providing corporate timetables within the City at bus stops. At some stops where they have been placed, there are so many errors to operators services,or where there are two stops together the wrong timetables have been put into the wrong stops.I feel sorry for all the operators who have to put up with this nonsense,as well as the public.

  8. I note at some stops with electronic displays they are still showing the M2 operating to Marwell Zoo

  9. Still no correction by First on their website to the error on E1/E2 I note

  10. The change of operator to the Eastleigh-Winchester E1/E2 service is now mentioned in the changes to services section on the HCC website.Still no correction to the error on the timetable shown on the First website
