ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I hope it works out as you planned. By the way, what is wrong at First in the Southampton area? you've nothing mentioned, and I'm sure they can't think they've finally got it right!
ReplyDeleteTalking of First Southampton, their advertising of this duo ticket is crafty. It makes you think the offer is available from the driver straight away, but you have to download app`s first,if you read the small print.
DeleteIt's to encourage people to download the app, to help reduce on-bus cash take/loading times.
DeleteNo different to how supermarkets do deals.
The Poole - Exeter X53 has actually been split in to three sections:
ReplyDeleteX54: Poole | Wareham | Weymouth
X53: Weymouth | Bridport | Lyme Regis | Axminster
X52: Bridport | Lyme Regis | Seaton | Exeter
The X52 faces increased competition from Stagecoach's 9 and 9A (formerly 52)
You can view the timetables in the First Dorset Summer 2016 timetable book (page 31 onwards): https://www.firstgroup.com/uploads/maps/Dorset_Guide_Summer_2016_Web.pdf
In somewhat typical fashion for First, these changes are fairly poorly thought out - the connections between the X54 and X53 in Weymouth are appalling!
It would seem in what you state,we can look forward to more changes along the whole route after a short period of operation of the new set up.
DeleteThe Stagecoach 37 change is simply that the Sunday and public holiday service via Queen Elizabeth Country Park and Buriton village will not reappear this year due to lack of South Downs National Park authority funding. The Winchester P&R change is evening buses for the Friday and Saturday of the annual Hat Fair.
ReplyDeletegreat idea with other areas. thanks.

Strange starting date on a Thursday,I wonder what the change is this time?
ReplyDeleteCould be the additonal buses for the cricket
DeleteYes,I had forgotten about the cricket and that's what I imagine like you it would be.
DeleteGood Morning

Interesting one, Reece! Is this a transfer of contract from First, or a rival operation, do you know?
DeleteI havr no idea.
DeleteI think this is just a tourist type service for the summer, taking visitors who come across on the Gosport Ferry to the museum.
DeleteThank you!
DeleteCancelled!
DeleteFirst getting competetion in Gosport, whatever next
ReplyDeleteThe 6 June change for the 125 is actually moving it 10 minutes later in both directions, for which there appears no obvious reason. Rumour is also that from September further Hampshire cuts will reduce it from a three day a week service to two days.
ReplyDeleteNice ride if you can get it though.

Connecting buses for the Somerley Tea Party (a "boutique electronic music & arts festival"). Although for a split second there I thought First were going to give the Bournemouth>Ringwood>Southampton route a go...
DeleteEastleigh Borough Council are consulting on funding for bus services - here is your chance to have your say https://www.eastleigh.gov.uk/media/219199/EBC-Passenger-Transport-Service-Review-2016-consultation-document.pdf
ReplyDeleteMore losses for Xelabus perhaps?
DeleteIt is possible I guess - the main thing is to get this consultation out to people so they can at least engage in the process
