*UPDATED* From Monday 6th June, First three starts diverting via Obelisk Road on its way into town from Thornhill during the weekday morning rush hour. New timetable here. This was originally planned to take place from 29th May and is still on Traveline as such, so either First haven't told Traveline or Traveline haven't listened.
Also from Sunday 29th May, More have changes to many routes in Bournemouth and Poole. Click here for details.
On Thursday 2nd June and on all days when there is T20 cricket at the Ageas Bowl, Xelabus X4 will have extra journeys departing from the Ageas Bowl at the following times:
Those buses will be useful for those needing to transfer to the following trains at Southampton Airport Parkway:
- 2222 towards Poole
- 2226 towards Romsey via Swaythling, St Denys, Southampton Central, Millbrook & Redbridge
- 2234 towards Bournemouth
- 2238 towards London Waterloo
- 2242 towards Weymouth
- 2246 towards Romsey via Chandlers Ford
- 2308 towards London Waterloo
*UPDATE* Extra buses from Ageas Bowl also on First 8, not just when there's T20 cricket, but a whole range of events listed here. The timetable can't be found on First's website, but is on Traveline:
The services towards Hedge End Station will connect with trains departing towards Portsmouth Harbour at 2230 and 2257.
Also from 2nd June First 8 has additional journeys for the Ageas Bowl, and the start date for the service 3 revision looking at the First website, seems to have been moved to the 6th June
ReplyDeleteFirst are also running extra buses on the 8 for the 20/20 matches as well as the England Internationals, One Day Cup and a Rod Stewart Concert.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the X24 to Paultons Park isn't running this summer. Shame as the last X7 from the park back to Southampton now leaves 1 hour before the park closes.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone had used it last year it would have more than likely ran this year
DeleteI used it! But there were only a handful of other passengers. It would be useful, though, for Salisbury Reds to extend the 1640 X7 from Salisbury at least as far as Totton to provide a link back to Southampton from Paultons at closing time.
DeleteThere are plans I'm informed at a later date to operate a later journey between Salisbury and Southampton because of numerous complaints as to the present last journey being so early.Just have to wait and see if this materialises
DeleteThe additional journeys for First 8 is shown on their website, but as you will note it's all very messy
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's 2 buses doing the exact same journey though.
ReplyDeleteWell of course not.Don't they look at what they publish on their own website.
DeleteI be intrested to see what buses get used for after the events
ReplyDeleteWhat will be more interesting than the vehicles used on them is the use by the general public in supporting the extra journeys.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine the only passengers on the buses would be those who had been at the cricket.

Last night 4 buses were used on the 8 after the 20/20 match finshed so the timetable was correct.
