Final day of Xelabus X1/X2 tomorrow

Xelabus X1 (Eastleigh-Stoke Common) and X2 (Eastleigh-Boyatt Wood) run for the final time tomorrow (Thursday).

They are the last remains of Xelabus's original business model of running buses that were free of charge for passengers but paid for by the supermarkets to whom customers were delivered, in this case Tesco Metro in Eastleigh, although Xela has also previously also brought customers to Asda in Chandler's Ford.

Especially since its absorption of the routes formerly operated by Velvet and Brijan Tours, Xelabus has become more of a traditional operator running key routes across our region.

The areas that were served by the X1/X2 still have the following services:

  1. Looking at the recently issued HCC timetable for Eastleigh and Hedge End,the 42 Stoke Common Taxishare has been withdrawn.

  2. Xelabus have also confirmed via Twitter that the X24 shopper bus to Tesco Burseldon is also stopping -- not sure about the other shopper buses that go to Tesco.

    2. What a mess the bus industry is in,not just in this area but throughout the country. In Southampton the major operators compite with each other with buses running round all day with few on.and the few on are mainly elderly passholders, nearly all any of the rural routes have been withdrawn, due to council cut funding, but all local councils up and down the country state how important buses are to the local community, but have no funds to support them anymore, but central governement seem to have millions to support an HS2 rail link, where support for buses would have cost a fraction to support. It's about time these politicians came into the real world to support what is sensible, instead of wasting millions in taxpayer money on hairbrain schemes, because at present they think it's good for the economy.Their are many bus routes today that are a waste of time putting money into, but also there are many worth the investment although not profitable. The ignorance of certain politicians is stark,in the fact as elected represensatives of the public they don't have a clue as to peoples basic needs, because if they did, half of what happens up and down the country would't happen,as they would do their best to protect it.Atp present all major bus companies introduce buses to help the plannet be enviromentaly fiendly, but as for other vehicles such as cars, vans or whatever, they can polute the plannet in what ever way thay wish.About time politicians addressed the motor car,but they more than likely won't due to being unpopular with the electrolate

    3. If you actually saw the twitter conversation, Anon@18:00, the decision was made by Tesco. Nothing to do with central or local government.

    3. Amazing. It's just the same with Bluestar - look at the prices of their tickets when they are outside the city !

  4. I note that over the Christmas and New Year Holiday period that Bluestar will operate a Sunday service on Boxing Day whilst First will only opeate their Red services, and on New Years Day Bluestar will operate a restricted service on 1-2-4-9-12-17 and 18,whilst First won't be running any services. This is what I have been informed and stand to be corrected if any different.

    2. Unilink are also running on Boxing Day this year, the first time in their existence. Only the U1, and a 20min service between 8-8ish.
