Sale / Beach / Wimborne / Burton

Bluestar have a summer special offer for group travel within Southampton: £5 for up to 5 people to travel all day (after 0930 weekdays).

More 112 has now become the Beach Bus with a far more regular than usual link between Hythe and Lymington for the school holidays. It even runs on Sundays, but only until 4th September, so if you want to visit the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, now's the time to go!

Over in Poole, roadworks have caused More to reroute services to Wimborne for a few months. Full details of the changes to routes 3, 4 and 32 can be found here.

Staying in Poole, there's been a reshuffle of stops at the town's bus station. Details of which More routes have moved stops within the bus station are here.

Down the road in Bournemouth, the county council has pulled the plug on the section of Yellow 24 that runs to Burton near Christchurch, from 7th August. It will still run between Alum Chine and Bournemouth Pier. But, More are going to give the Burton section of route a go on a commercial basis between Burton and Fairmile via Christchurch Town Centre - see their timetable here. The service is much reduced however, confined to weekdays between 9am and 3pm only.

  1. Nice to note Burton still has a form of service rather than none whatsoever. After all the hype in previous years about the Beach Bus this years operation is decidedly shorter, but welcome all the same.Glads it's renumbered back to 112 from last years number of 99. The person who does the outside publicity must tear their hair out at keep on having to change stop flag information

  2. Stagecoach 46.

HCC met on Friday 22nd July 2016.

At the meeting it was decided to renew the HCC 46 contract with Stagecoach; using the same timetable and the same route except for a small alteration at the North Baddesley end.

The college version of the 46 will run to the old PS1 route, except it will now start and finish at the Bede’s Lea in North Baddesley instead of starting and finishing at the bottom of Valley Park. The timetable will be very close to the old PS1 timetable.

    4. So Morebus retain it!? That's at quite a heavy discount on what they have been charging. OK the existing emergy ones were going to be costlier, BUT!!!

    5. Yes of course an emergency or temporary contract is always going to be more expensive than a planned long term one due to the extra costs and uncertainty involved. I'm sure that would be the case with any operator or indeed any business of any kind.

    6. But more than twice they'll be charging from Sept for the temp contract seems rather greedy to this simple fellow

    7. I understand that Morebus were worried about another operator winning the tender

  5. First Southampton will be making several minor changes to some of its routes starting on Sunday 4 September 2016.

The service changes are as follows:

    Route 2 (Southampton – Millbrook)

The frequency of the service, Mondays to Fridays will be revised to every 7/8 minutes. Sunday services will stay at every 15 mins

    Route 7 (Townhill Park/Midanbury – Portswood – City Centre)

Revisions being made to the Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday timetables but there will be no changes to the frequency of the service.

Route 9 (Sholing- Bitterne – Woolston – City Centre)

The afternoon timetable between 14.00 and 15.30 will be amended. The 14.06 from Sholing will now continue to the City Centre, instead of terminating at Bitterne and there will be an additional 15.00 journey from the City Centre to Bitterne Shops.

Route 10 (Thornhill – Bitterne – City Centre)

All journeys, Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays, will now start and finish at Dumbleton Towers but there will be no change to the service's frequency.

Route 13 (Harefield – Bitterne – Woolston – City Centre)

The early morning timetable will be revised as a result of customer feedback. An extra journey will now operate at 18.25, Monday to Friday, to extend the 30 minute frequency.

Route 40 (Southampton City – Richard Taunton College)

The 08.07 journey will be extended and continue to Southampton General Hospital, Monday to Friday. This trip will go via Hill Lane, Winchester Road, Dale Road and Tremona Road, terminating at the stop just before Coxford Road and further enhances links to the General Hospital.

Digital copies of the new timetables will be available to download or view on the First Southampton website later this month (August).

    2. Seen that the changes are to compete even more with BS18,with Sunday evening journeys timed to leave just before the 18.

    3. False. The 10 is hourly white Bluestar 18 is every 30minutes on Sunday Evenings

    4. the hourly journeys will depart just before one of the 18 departures is what I meant.

  6. So buses in the 10 will still need to turn round! Going to go past the 18 bus stops at Hightown but not serve them then if turning round at Dumbleton towers!

  7. The 10 will follow the same route as now, they have just moved the time point one step backward from Burgoyne Road, more than likely due to the present terminus being blocked by so many buses that use it when between the two operators they all bunch up
