W2 now via General Hospital

Wheelers have quietly altered the route of the W2 so that it now runs via the General Hospital. Here are the full stop listings:

See the full new timetable here. A route map can be seen at Traveline.

  1. Let's hope they can be encouraged to provide timetable information at some outlet within Southampton.. The only place I have found timetables for their operations is in Oceans in the High Street, and then only for the W1. West Quay had some for the W1,but have not any on display for sometime now. As for most bus stops it's non existant. The Library in Southampton barely accepts that any public transport exists in Southampton, so you can give that a miss. PAC

  3. What a complete waste of time! It doesnt run at a time when staff want to get to work, or home again. It doesnt run at visiting times!

  4. Agree with above. Seems pointless diverting via hospital when it doesn't run at times people would use it. Also if they do ever extend it to run in peak times also the previous route would have tempted me out of my car as a fast route from Hill lane to Asda Chandlers Ford and the business park there. This more indirect route will not.

  6. Xelabus have taken over from Velvet the D service to Barton Peveril and Wheelers have a new service H they have won on tender from Eastleigh Borough. This runs from Hamble via Barton Peveril too

  7. I can't help thinking the w2 and s1 buses that go along Hill Lane in general would be better-used if the stops were marked with signs and timetables. And, of course, if the buses ran at more sensible times (a hospital bus that doesn't serve the hospital for people getting to work at 9am and leaving again in the evening?) and appeared on the electronic departure boards at the hospital, too.

  8. I agree in the Upper Shirley area there a few stops with just a black pole which was left when first stopped running (last June) and no other markings, you wouldn't even know it was a bus stop. There are others where there are markings on the road but no signs on the stop, in fact the only place I have seen a new sign in Upper Shirley for the S1 is at St John's Church and the stop opposite has a shelter but no bus sign.

  9. Yes as I have pointed out before it's a disgace and should never have been allowed to happen - Are the local council determined to kill public transport once and for all in the Upp[er Shirley area. PAC
